Passiflora decaloba spec. Costa Rica

Passiflora decaloba – an unknown beauty

This Passiflora belonging to subgenus decaloba is still unidentified. I found it in the Costa Rican jungle in 2008. It first flowered in 2009. Experts said it might be a P. talamancensis or a Passiflora biflora, but both suggestions could not be confirmed. Still, the plant is most likely related to P. biflora.

This unknown Passion Flower from Costa Rica has small, white flowers and a thick yellow corona. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very lazy bloomer. It flowered only once in four years at all. Maybe this Passi is missing its tropical home. But it grows fast and doesn’t attract pest. So, I would call it a really easy-care Passi.
