Passiflora ornithoura ist eine ungewöhnliche, aber interessante Passionsblume der Untergattung decaloba. Ihre Blätter sind einfach tief gelappt und panaschiert. Sie sehen aus wie ein Victory-Zeichen, das jemand mit sehr dünnen Fingern bildet.

Doch nicht nur das Laub dieser Passionsblume ist sehr dekorativ. Auch die Blüten sind hübsch, wenn auch recht klein mit ca. 1,5 cm Durchmesser. Sie sind bunt, wobei die Farben von grün über blass-lila bis rot reichen. Die äußersten Spitzen der kurzen Korona sind gelb.

Wenn sie einmal blüht, bildet diese Passionsblume durchaus viele Blüten aus. Ob die Passiflora ornithoura mehrmals im Jahr geblüht hat, kann ich mich nicht erinnern, da sie schon länger nicht mehr in meinem Bestand ist.

But not only the floliage of this Passion Flower is very decorative. Also the flowers are litle beauties. But they are small with diameters of only about 1.5 cm. They are multi-colored. The petals are green and pale purple inside. The outer tops of the short corona filaments are yellow.

Once it flowers, Passiflora ornithoura makes many flowers. I don’t remember if it blooms several times a year, because I lost this Passiflora species years ago.
