Passiflora ‚Emma‘ ist bzw. war eine hübsche Hybride mit Beteiligung von Passiflora amethystina. Leider ist sie mir eingegangen, und eine Sicherungskopie hatte ich nicht.

Passiflora ‚Emma‘ hatte hellblaue Locken und duftete lecker!

Diese Passionsblume habe ich aus Samen gezogen. Nur ein Exemplar blühte. Die Blüte war relativ klein und duftete. Sie hatte einen hellblauen Strahlenkranz und lila Blütenblätter. Zu schade, dass sie nicht mehr existiert. Die übrigen Sämlinge habe ich noch mehrere Jahre behalten, stets in der Hoffnung, einen von ihnen zum Blühen zu bringen. Leider vergeblich.

Was lerne ich aus dieser Erfahrung? Von allen Passis immer Sicherungskopien machen, denn ein Totalverlust kann schneller kommen als man glaubt…

Passiflora ‚Emma‘ had light-blue curls and a nice fragrance!

Passiflora ‚Emma‘ is, or should I say was, a pretty Pasisflora amethystina hybrid I had grown from seeds. Unfortuanately, it died, and I didn’t have any copy of that plant, so I lost it forever.

This Passion Flower was one of about ten seedlings I had grown. Only one of them flowered. The flower was quite small and had a sweet fragrance. It had a light blue corona, the petals were purple. Too sad that it doesn’t exist anymore. The other seedlings I kept for two more years, hoping one of them would flower. But none of them did.

So, what is the lesson learned from this experience? Make copies of all Passis you might lose. A total loss of a unique Passiflora hybrid can come faster than you might think…
