Meine Passiflora Byron Beauty Hybride blüht endlich! Die erste Blüte in diesem Jahr und wohl auch die einzige vorläufig, denn es ist keine weitere Knospe zu sehen. Sie hat alle anderen abgeworfen. Ist kein Passi-Sommer dieses Jahr. Zu nass und zu wenig Sonne, vermute ich. Auch Passiflora x Belotii wirft viele Knospen ab, nur wenige kommen zur Blüte.
Die blauen „Wuschel“, wie ich diese Passiflora-Sorten nenne, zählen zu meinen absoluten Lieblingen unter den Passionsblumen. Ihr Duft ist berauschend, und die langen, gekräuselten Fäden der Corona vor einem stahlblauen Himmel wie heute an einem heißen Sommertag zu sehen, ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis.

Hoffentlich bildet sie noch ein paar Knospen…

My Passiflora Byron Beauty Hybrid finally flowers! The first flower this year that really opened, and I guess, it will be the only one for now. There’s no other bud on the vein. The plant dropped all of them. No Passi summer this year. Probably too wet and not enough sunshine. The same problem I experience with Passiflora x Belotii. It drops many buds, only a few of them fully develop and flower. The blue „Wuschel“, as I call this kind of Passiflora, are one of my absolute favorites among the Passion Flowers. Their scent is gorgeous, and the long corona filaments are an eye-catcher in front of a steal-blue sky on a summer day like today.

I hope the plant will produce some more buds…
